For municipalities and communities

Your community hosts the project. Your neighbors share in it.

When a project in your community is certified, every eligible household receives a share of the value it creates. Every month, on a card, with the project's name on it.

Your share, every month

Each eligible household gets a Visible Benefit debit card. The share arrives on it every month, and it spends like any other card: at the grocery store, the pharmacy or the gas station.

It grows with the project

The share is set by a formula tied to the project itself, so it grows as the project grows. It is agreed before the project is approved, not traded for a vote after.

Public, line by line

Every dollar is posted to a public record. Anyone in town can see what was paid, when, and by which project.

For counties and towns

Ask for it in writing.

A county board or town council can ask for Visible Benefit certification in its negotiations with a project, in a development agreement and, where state law allows, as a condition of approval. The project pays for certification and for running the program. The community pays nothing.

The share does not replace your review. The decision to approve a project stays with you and your residents.

Each certified project is checked again every year. A project that stops paying its share loses its seal.

Independence

Independent by design.

The Visible Benefit Company is a public benefit corporation. Projects are certified against a published Standard, and no developer, operator or investor has a say in any certification decision, including on its own project.

Be among the first communities to adopt and require the Standard.
